Semantic Scholar

Usage: Retrieval of paper metadata (title, authors, abstract, citation counts, citation relationships, etc.)
License: Subject to the Semantic Scholar REST API License
Copyrights of abstracts and other works included in data retrieved from Semantic Scholar may belong to the respective authors or publishers.
OpenAlex
Provider: OurResearch (Impactstory, Inc.)
Usage: Retrieval of paper license information (Creative Commons licenses, etc.)
License: CC0 (OpenAlex data)
OpenAlex data is aggregated from original publishers and repositories; rights to individual works may belong to the original copyright holders.

Usage: Retrieval of paper metadata in the medical and life sciences fields

License-Based Display Control
This Service retrieves the copyright license of each paper (CC BY, CC BY-NC, All Rights Reserved, etc.) from the OpenAlex API and controls derivative uses such as AI summarization in commercial features. For papers under CC BY-NC licenses, derivative use in paid features is not performed. Papers for which license information cannot be obtained (UNKNOWN) are conservatively excluded from derivative use.
